Pentagon Breaking the Law
The Washington Post today reported that the Pentagon has hired a private firm to collect data on students ages 16-18. Privacy groups are in an uproar over this breach of privacy.The firm in question, BeNow, will collect information including Social Security Number and Ethnicity.
Currently there are law restricting government agencies from collecting personal information on private citizens. This appears to be an effort to skirt around those restrictions.
This latest incursion into our personal lives is on top of the No Child Left Behind act, which has provisions for collecting information about students from schools. School systems that fail to provide this information risk loosing federal funding. In addition, there are efforts on the way to create a National ID card where the cost will fall on the states, not the federal government.

And people say Big Brother is dead.
There was a remark once, however, that it wasn't going to be the State doing it, but the people themselves willingly doing so.
In the end of course, this, like the official admission that there really is a "Shadow Government" plan in place in the event of a major crisis, have to make you wonder, if this is what they admit to, what aren't they admitting to?
How much better do we feel about being included in the process?
